Inter Milan ace Sneijder depressed over Man Utd deal collapse

Inter Milan midfielder Wesley Sneijder is gutted by the decision of Manchester United to end their pursuit of him. Sneijder had his heart set on moving to Old Trafford, but his wage demands proved too rich for United boss Sir Alex Ferguson and the club's moneymen.

Gazzetta dello Sport says Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini has made enquiries with Inter president Massimo Moratti, but Sneijder has little interest in a move to Etihad Stadium.

The Dutchman wanted United and is now depressed by the situation.

The deal's collapse leaves Inter coach Gian Piero Gasperini with the task of picking up the pieces - and also handling the departure of Samuel Eto'o for Anzhi.
