Inter Milan legend Marco Materazzi has backed AC Milan's move for Juventus defender Lucio.

Lucio wants to leave Juve next month and is being linked with the Rossoneri.

Materazzi remarked: : "After restoring (Kevin-Prince) Boateng, with (Stephan) El Shaarawy and (Antonio) Nocerino and Robinho, who are doing well, I think the Rossoneri need a defender more than a striker, especially as Thiago Silva has not been replaced in the right way.

"Who would do well in the Milan defence? I'd say Lucio, who has shown to have no problems to pass from one team to another. For me it might be a good thing."
