Inter Milan have opted not to sign striker John Carew on a short-term deal.
The 33-year old Norwegian, who is a free agent after departing West Ham United in the summer, was training with the Nerazzurri with reports suggesting a temporary contract was close.
However, the Italian club have decided against bringing in the former Aston Villa, Valencia and Lyon man for the remainder of the season.
"FC Internazionale would like to thank Norwegian striker John Carew for the willingness and professionalism he has shown," read a club statement.
"His present physical condition, however, would require him to undergo a rather lengthy period of specific individual fitness work which is not compatible with the needs of the club."
