Inter Milan boss Jose Mourinho says Italian football must learn to sell itself better.

"You may not believe it, but I am one of you," Mourinho told an Italian forum. "The world does not like the product of Italian football. We must think about our future more generally."

Italy boss Marcello Lippi then took the floor and asked: "We are all convinced that the Italian championship is not the best, but it is the most difficult for coaches. What you think?"

Mourinho replied: "All leagues are difficult, there are many good coaches, it is difficult to win in any league and we Portuguese are like you Italians. It is very important to win, also in the 89th, without a wonderful spectacle.

"Italian football is difficult and requires great preparation by a trainer.

"I changed against Genoa three or four times my tactical planning and Genoa has always adapted to our formula. To me, as a coach, it is a fantastic spectacle."
