Emiliano Insua insists manager Rafa Benitez's isn't to blame for Liverpool's troubles.
The Reds were held at Stoke City yesterday days after they were dumped out of the FA Cup by Reading.
Insua said: "The squad is saddened by the situation we find ourselves in this season and being knocked out of the Champions League and FA Cup is hard.
"The real people to blame are the players. The coach gives us orders and it's up to us to carry them out and score the goals and win matches on the pitch.
"The series of setbacks have been our main enemy. Rafa Benitez has suffered with that and it's wrong to make him just responsible.
"Any club in the world would miss Torres and Gerrard but now we have to get our confidence improved and get some better results."
