Gareth Bale is shattered by the barracking of his own Real Madrid fans, it has been revealed.
While Karim Benzema has learned to accept the whistles, in contrast Bale is struggling to cope. Both players were targeted by home fans for their draw with Valencia on the weekend.
French pundit Frederic Hermel told L'Equipe: "I had occasion to be with Benzema after the match on Sunday, people wondered if he was sunk by the whistles.
"No, he was annoyed because Real Madrid had not won. He is accustomed because what he suffered on Sunday is nothing compared to what he has suffered in all these years.
"His reply was: 'I could have played two more days and I would not have scored'.
"His way of thinking is as a footballer. He does not like whistles but he is not sunk. He assumes that night as a bad night in his career and he is not worried about anything."
However, on Bale, Hermel revealed: "Gareth Bale was very sunk after the whistles, he was very affected, they have hurt him alot and he does not understand how somebody can say that the whistles are there to encourage him."
