Gokhan Inler is delighted with his first six months under Udinese coach Pasquale Marino.

"I arrived here with great enthusiasm and my state of mind hasn't changed," the 23-year-old enthused. "In these six months I have discovered what a truly great chance youngsters like me have at Udinese.

"It makes me very happy to be at a club where young players have a chance to play regular first-team football in Serie A."

Coach Marino continues to prove his ability as a motivator after leading Catania to comfortable survival last time around.

"The Coach has done great work and I am very happy to have the chance to work with him," Inler stressed.

"He is a polite, honest and loyal person who always tells things as they are - that's a quality that I really appreciate.

"As a team we have great character. Nobody expected us to fly so high at the start of this season and sit in fourth at the winter break.

"It has been a happy surprise and we are very proud, but we aren't getting carried away and we won't lose focus."
