Injury worries for Chelsea after Carling Cup loss

High-flying Chelsea were brought back down to earth by Newcastle United in the Carling Cup on Wednesday night.

The all-conquering Blues seemed superhuman going into the third round cup clash at Stamford Bridge but were overhauled by a determined Magpies outfit who eventually won 4-3 after a tense struggle.

Following the match, Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti appeared to be more worried about some of his injured players rather than the loss, especially youngster Gael Kakuta who was brought down in a tackle by Ryan Taylor.

"(Gael) Kakuta had a problem on his leg after the tackle in first half while (Yossi) Benayoun's injury is his calf and Kalou hurt his thigh," said Ancelotti.

"We will know more tomorrow but they don't look good. The will miss the next few games.

"These things can happen in football. It was a strong tackle on Kakuta and he was unlucky. The problem with his back is from the fall."
