Joe Gomez is expected to be out of action for the remainder of the Premier League season.
In what is a major blow to Liverpool, the 18-year-old defender has ruptured a cruciate ligament and will be sidelined for the remainder of the campaign according to Sky Sports.
Gomez sustained the injury while playing for the England U21 team in Euro2017 qualifying against Kazakhstan on Tuesday.
Scans have revealed the full extent of the damage, and although Liverpool are yet to make an official announcement, it is believed the summer signing from Charlton Athletic could be out for up to nine months.
