Liverpool defender Philipp Degen faces another spell on the sidelines through injury. The 24-year-old Swiss international had only recently returned to fitness from a metatarsal injury he picked up in the Carling Cup defeat by Tottenham in November.

Degen sustained a new foot injury in last week's reserves clash with Manchester United faces up to a month out injured.
