Sunderland's interest in Tottenham striker Darren Bent is due to a serious knee injury suffered by Kenwyne Jones, it has been revealed.

The Daily Mail says Jones' knee injury, suffered in action for Trinidad & Tobago against England, could force him out for the year and leaves manager Roy Keane now seeking a big-money replacement.

Keane is already sizing up Spurs' Bent but will be furious at the way Jones was injured.
