Injury forces Motherwell's Fitzpatrick back on sidelines

Motherwell's Marc Fitzpatrick has been stunned by the news he faces another eight weeks on the sidelines just a month after making his comeback from groin surgery. The 23-year-old played his first game of the season in mid-January but was injured again in a challenge with Simon Mensing during the Lanarkshire derby with Hamilton just under two weeks ago.

"I have been told I'll miss between five and six weeks because of the injury," he told his club's official website.

"I am gutted because it took me the best part of six months to get fit and less than four weeks back with the team, I am out again.

"But these things happen in football and I am just going to have to get on with it.

"Being injured and having to face the gym every other day is definitely demoralising but you've got to remain focused. Shaun Hutchinson is in a similar situation so we're both helping each other get through it."
