Injured Dawson confirmed a non-starter for England
Michael Dawson has been ruled out of England's Euro 2012 qualifier in Switzerland on Tuesday.
The defender was carried off with a serious-looking knee injury during the second half of last night's 4-0 win over Bulgaria and has now returned to Tottenham.
"Following a scan on his knee this morning, Michael Dawson will miss England's Euro 2012 qualifier with Switzerland on Tuesday," read a statement released by the Football Association.
"England and Tottenham Hotspur medical staff were in contact this morning and Dawson has now returned to his club for further treatment.
"There will be no further call-ups."
With Matthew Upson, Joleon Lescott and Gary Cahill already at the squad base in Watford, Capello feels he has enough strength at his disposal to decide who will partner Phil Jagielka in Basle.

Well no wonder Crapello isn't to worried.... he can use Dawson's absence as a good excuse if we fail to beat Switzerland on Tuesday.
I don't know why people are getting carried away by us beating Bulgaria 4-0 last night. Bulgaria are ranked by Fifa, 1 place below Scotland in the World.... and if you are ranked below Scotland then you must be really bad. Had it been 1-1 when Hart knocked that shot away and not let to our 2nd goal, it would have been a disaster.
Our performance (with the exception of Glenn Johnson) was fair. We won and got 3 points and a good goal difference. That is the minimum score we should have expected.
We need to play more friendlies against the worlds bigger teams... not little ones like Hungary and Mexico.
