West Bromwich Albion striker Roman Bednar is looking forward to the new Premier League season after making a goal-scoring comeback at Kidderminster on Saturday. The 27-year-old Czech forward, who has been recovering from a hernia operation, returned to action during Albion's 3-0 pre-season friendly win, and capped his comeback by netting the second goal.
"It's fine after the operation. Everything is cool and I am working hard," Bednar told West Brom's official website.
"I want to be really ready and there are a lot of hard days in front of us but it was nice to play a game."
Bednar, who underwent surgery, knows he faces a hard slog ahead of Albion's first game of the season at Chelsea on August 14.
"I need to get through all five weeks without injury and I always think it's more a mental thing in pre-season because it's hard," he said.
"I did a little bit over the summer but now we have four more weeks of really hard work and I think that will be enough because of the way we train now.
"If the guys stay fit and don't get injured we will be ready for the Premier League."
