Injured-again Sturridge is at a really low point - Liverpool's Henderson

Jordan Henderson believes Liverpool teammate Daniel Sturridge is mentally hurting after sustaining another leg injury.

It has been confirmed that the Reds striker will be sidelined until the New Year after suffering a thigh injury in training on Monday which comes after previous calf and thigh problems.

Sturridge, who has not played for his club since the end of August, is battling to come to terms with his lack of fortune in 2014/15 but Henderson suggests he just needs to be patient so he can focus on his fitness for the second half of the campaign.

"It is a big blow, not only for the team but for him as well," said the midfielder.

"He is devastated, at a really low point really because he was looking forward to getting back playing. He felt good so it is disappointing for us as a team and him personally.

"We have to make sure as teammates we are strong for him because he is doing everything he can in the gym and on the training field to get back as quick as he can. Hopefully he has a quick recovery, a speedy recovery and he comes back firing on all cylinders."
