Nigel Reo-Coker's MLS debut helped guide Vancouver Whitecaps to a season-opening 1-0 home win over Canadian rivals Toronto FC on the weekend.
The 28-year old former West Ham United and Aston Villa midfielder replaced Kekuta Manneh at half-time at BC Place and Whitecaps head coach Martin Rennie was thrilled with the impact he had on the team.
"He drove the team on," Rennie told the Vancouver Sun. "He won a lot of balls that we weren't winning in the first half. He created some good chances, put some good balls in the box.
"He's got presence and a confidence about him, a swagger even, that rubs off on other people. You have to have that to be a good team."
