Manchester United were held to a 0-0 draw by Real Sociedad in the Champions League on Tuesday night.
The Red Devils were wasteful at the Anoeta Stadium as they missed the chance to book their spot in the knockout phase of the competition.
Robin van Persie missed a penalty late in the match while Javier Hernandez failed to score from six yards when played in by Shinji Kagawa earlier in the second lot of 45 minutes.
United were penalised in the final minute when Marouane Fellaini was shown a red card for a second bookable offence but in the end it did nothing to alter the result.
United remain on top of the Group A table with eight points from four matches, one ahead of Bayer Leverkusen and three in front of third-placed Shakhtar Donetsk after those two sides drew 0-0 in Ukraine.
