Indian group targeted by Man Utd for shirt sponsor

Multinational Indian-based conglomerate Tata Group have been targeted by European Champions Manchester United to be their shirt sponsor. The Red Devils four-year deal with American International Group (AIG) expires in May next year but an extension on the deal will not be done.

A shirt sponsorship proposal has been sent to Tata Group which has interests in steel, automobiles, IT, communication, power, tea and hotels.

"It's reasonably right," a brand consultant of the Tata Group said of the reports.

"There are various sponsorship options, one for the team shirt. This has been going on for some time but nothing has been finalised."
