Premier League clubs are targeting India as the next outpost for international expansion, according to executives from major clubs at both ends of the table. Ian Ayre, commercial director of Liverpool told BritSport Weekly that the Indian market is 'very interesting' to the club, but that the business model for entering the market has to be carefully evaluated.
"I believe that what we need to do is have a sustainable plan that touches all the demographics of the Indian market," says Ayre.
"There is a very wealthy section of the Indian market you could easily prepare a proposition for, but then there are vast numbers from other demographic groups. There needs to be a variety of solutions to touch the market in different ways."
