Independiente president Julio Comparada believes Atletico Madrid are playing a risky game with Sergio Aguero's buyout clause set at £50 million.
Aguero hit a brace on his Champions League debut against PSV Eindhoven this week and is a target for Europe's biggest clubs, including Chelsea and Barcelona.
Comparada, who sold Aguero to Atletico two years ago, said: "Sergio is an exceptional player. He's the best player for the future. Unfortunately, there are many economic differences between Europe and Argentina and that's why we could not keep him for longer here.
"In relation to the financial power of Europe's major clubs, I believe Aguero's buyout clause isn't high enough, especially given his talent and potential."
