Incoming Chelsea striker Diego Costa was booed by the Brazilian crowd during his first appearance on home soil since electing to play for World Cup rivals Spain.
He started for the world champions and won a penalty in the Group B opener against Holland but was greeted with a stormy reception at the Arena Fonte Nova for turning his back on his country in favour of his adopted homeland.
From his first touch of the ball just five minutes in, the 35-goal Atletico Madrid frontman drew boos and jeers as he donned a Spain shirt for just the third time.
Spain in the end were thrashed 5-1 last night by the Dutch.
