Japan midfielder Junichi Inamoto has revealed the major factor for joining French club Rennes. The 29-year old shifted from German club Eintracht Frankfurt to the northwest club to reunite with his former boss Frederic Antonetti.
Inamoto and Antonetti worked together at Gamba Osaka and the Japan international saw it as a great opportunity to link up with the Frenchman.
"I worked for almost two seasons with Frederic Antonetti, who is very popular in Japan," he told the club's official website.
"I enjoyed him as a coach and I wanted to work again with him. There are some Japanese players who feature in the French championship, like [Saint-Etienne's Daisuke] Matsui. I am informed and I have watched DVDs - it's a competition at a very high level."
