Image rights continue to be the major stumbling block between Real Madrid and Cristiano Ronaldo over a new contract. Real president Florentino Perez has made it clear he wants to secure Ronaldo to a new deal.

But ABC says a row over image rights remains the major flashpoint.

Along with demanding a salary at least equal to what Lionel Messi is paid at Barcelona, Ronaldo also wants 100 per cent of revenue from his image rights to go to him.

Real, for their part, are refusing to budge from their club policy of a 50:50 split.
