Manchester United's Zlatan Ibrahimovic believes Wednesday night's win over West Ham United will only breed confidence.
The Swedish striker scored twice at Old Trafford, along with Anthony Martial, as the Red Devils saw off the challenge of the Hammers with a 4-1 result.
United scored first in the rematch, as opposed to Sunday's Premier League draw with the East London club, and Ibrahimovic highlighted the importance of striking first after chasing their tails on the weekend.
"It becomes totally different when you score the first goal," he told MUTV.
"If you compare to the game on Sunday, they had that goal after a couple of minutes and we were chasing, but today it was different.
"When you are 1-0 up you get more space, the situation is totally different. I know it because I have big experience from it but I'm happy for the team.
"It gives more confidence. I think we are now in the semi-finals so let's continue this run in the Premier League also to get those wins, to build up the confidence and to give us the stability that we need."
