Shakespeare said: "He is pushing for a start. His fitness levels are getting better and I have been very pleased over the past two weeks with the way he has taken information on board.

"His intensity without the ball, in some of the sessions we have put on, has grown. It is a completely new experience for him in terms of the Premier League and the intensity of the training is different.

"We have been talking to him about how in Spain it can be all about technique at times, It can be here at certain times but we all know it is a really hard league to come to, from where he has come from. I am really pleased with the improvement he has shown."
