I would take Everton squad over Liverpool says Anfield hero Keegan

Club legend Kevin Keegan believes that the Liverpool board's decision to sack Brendan Rodgers was correct.

Keegan told beIN Sports that he felt that Rodgers had 'taken Liverpool backwards' and left the Anfield club in an inferior state than when he joined.

Keegan also commented on how Rodgers had left Liverpool with a weaker squad than their Merseyside rivals Everton.

Keegan said: "If I look at both squads and you said I could manage Everton or Liverpool I would have taken the Everton squad because there are a lot of young players in there, players with a big future ahead of them."

"At Liverpool they are not even that young. There are a lot of players in their mid to late 20s.

"He has spent a lot of money and I just hope that Fenway and the owners have the courage to throw a bit of money at the new manager, whoever he is."
