Former England ace Terry Butcher says that he would rather pick Manchester United star Wayne Rooney ahead of Liverpool's Adam Lallana as his number 10 in Friday night's clash between England and Scotland.
Butcher says that England's number 10 will be involved in a key battle with Hull City's Robert Snodgrass and would rather it be Rooney, but feels Gareth Southgate may deploy Lallana in the role.
He writes in his column for the Express: “Snodgrass's delivery at set-pieces is Scotland's most dangerous weapon but when the game gets stretched he comes into his own.
“He likes to come in on his left foot – I have seen him do that early in his career for Livingston and now Scotland. He is a great talent in great form.
“I would prefer to have Wayne Rooney as my No10, but Lallana is a talent who could really hurt Scotland.
“He has good vision and his touch is impeccable – important as nobody will be getting any time on the ball. And recently, playing for Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool seems to have boosted his confidence."
