‘I work hard, I'm serious and I like winning' - Southampton new boy Hojbjerg

Southampton's new signing Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg is looking forward to working hard in a bid to win plenty of games with his new club.

The highly-rated midfielder has joined Saints in a £12million deal from Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich and is eager to use his qualities to help the south coast outfit achieve success under new manager Claude Puel.

"I don't try to speak about myself but in football I like having the ball and I like fighting on the pitch for my team," the Denmark international told club's official YouTube channel.

"I feel that it's a team that sticks together in bad and good times because I think that you can only be good if the whole team succeeds. This is what I am as a player, I work hard, I'm serious, I'm reliable, I'm loyal and I like winning.

"For me, winning is what makes the difference from good players to big players, it's how much you win and what you want to win."

The 20-year-old had fallen down the pecking order at Bayern and he revealed that Saints' philosophy of youth development played a huge part in his decision to join the club.

"It makes it a little more comfortable and it's also one of the reasons why I choose it here," he added.

"I spoke with the manager and it was very positive in his way of analysing my style and the club. Also, his style was very clear and I like that.

"I like it when somebody has a style that they are clear about and they know what they want as it's easier to follow and be part of. I can also speak French and that will make it a little easier."
