QPR boss Harry Redknapp has admitted that he should have tried harder to sign Peter Odemwingie in January.
The West Bromwich Albion striker turned up to Loftus Road on deadline day believing he had an agreement with the West London club but a deal did not go through, leaving the Nigerian red-faced and confused.
Odemwingie has copped plenty of flak for his actions on the day but it appears now as though Redknapp was keen to get him to the R's who are facing an uphill relegation battle and could have used a decent goalscorer.
"I would not have changed an awful lot, really," Redknapp said of his role as QPR boss after taking over in November.
"I'd have probably tried harder to get the boy from West Brom, Odemwingie.
"He might have really given us something up there with Bobby Zamora not being 100 per cent fit. He might have scored four or five goals that make the difference.
"He did no different to what about 50 other footballers did on the same day.
"He made one big mistake. He was too honest, he turned up at the football club, he was silly."
