I will try to be Tom Cruise and pull off Mission Impossible against Chelsea - Maccabi boss Jokanovic

Maccabi Tel Aviv manager Slavisa Jokanovic is harnessing his inner Tom Cruise for Tuesday night's Champions League clash with Chelsea.

The Israeli club host Jose Mourinho's Blues in an encounter they must win if they want to keep their European dream alive this season.

Maccabi sit at the foot of Group G without a point from four matches and need six points form their final two fixtures, and hope third-placed Dynamo Kyiv do not win, in order to sneak into the Europa League in what is seen as 'Mission Impossible'.

Of that prospect, Jokanovic said: "If Jose Mourinho doesn't want to be Tom Cruise, I prefer to try to be.

"It's complicated for him, it's complicated for me. It's a different target.

"We have in front of us two games and we want six points if we have the opportunity for playing next spring in the Europa League."

The former Blues midfielder and Watford boss added: "I expect we're going to find our best performance.

"We conceded 11 goals and scored only one. We need to be more solid in defence, be more competitive in midfield and be more dangerous in the last third. It's simple.

"For us it's important to try to find a way for three points."
