'I want to play a lot more' - Ameobi makes Newcastle intentions clear

Sammy Ameobi feels he is ready to become a first team player at Newcastle United.

The 20-year old attacker has been in and out of the Magpies line-up this season, mainly playing in the Europa League, for a total of 11 appearances.

The younger brother of Toon veteran Shola Ameobi, Sammy says he is at a point in his career where he wants to be pushing for regular game time under Alan Pardew.

"I want to be playing a lot more football," he told Sky Sports.

"I feel like I am passed the stage where I am the new kid on the block. I want to start making a difference."

He added: "It is never easy getting into the first team, especially with the great players we have. There is no slacking.

"It is a case of watching and learning from players in your position. I am still learning the game and I am looking forward to continuing to do that."
