Manchester City and England shot-stopper Joe Hart has admitted that he plays with injuries at times to ensure that he doesn't lose his place for both club and country.
Hart is expected to be rested for England's upcoming Euro2016 qualifiers, with Stoke City's Jack Butland to be given a chance, as he continues to deal with back problems but he is prepared to play on regardless as he fears for his Three Lions spot.
Hart said: "Do I play through the pain? Yeah we all do.
"I think everyone plays through something. Especially I know for a fact that I have to with the two teams that I play for, you have to sometimes play through pain, otherwise there's someone very talented trying to take my place.
"Keeping an eye on back spasms is part of my maintenance, part of me flying around and smashing off the floor every day, that's me and every now and then it's going to happen.
Speaking about being rested on Friday for the clash with Estonia at Wembley, Hart praised Three Lions youngster Butland but insisted he is keen to play every second he can: "I am a very team-driven man, so if that [playing Butland] is Roy's thinking, that is the way we are going to do it. But I personally want to play every single game. I want to deserve to play every game.
"The day that I am going to be asked to make decisions like that is the day that I become a manager. At the moment, I am a player - a selfish player - and I just want to play. I would never think I didn't need to play a particular game."
