I'm not Mr Celtic, skipper Brown is! - Samaras

Georgios Samaras has dismissed claims that he is Mr Celtic.

The Greek forward was described as the heart and soul of the Hoops by former striker Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink recently but he suggests injured captain Scott Brown is the main man at Parkhead.

Samaras has been one of several players to take the captain's armband for Scottish champions Celtic during Brown's injury absence this season but still feels the midfielder is the most influential player at the club.

"This club has a great leader in Broony. We all look up to him," he told SunSport.

"In Scotland, the captain has to be Scottish. Broony is perfect for this role. I cannot see anyone replacing him in this position.

"Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink said I was Mr Celtic recently, but I think Broony is Mr Celtic. He came here six months earlier than me.

"It was great to hear those words from a great player and a great man like Jan. I really appreciate what he said as I respect him.

"I am one of the guys who is quiet in the dressing room. I don't speak a lot.

"But I try to take all my energy on to the park to win the game."
