I loved being the big fish in small pond - Southampton legend Le Tissier

Matt Le Tissier has spoken of his fondness at being the main man and star attraction during his playing days with Southampton.

The former midfield ace spurned many chances to join top clubs during his career with the Saints which spanned about 16 years and he revealed the reasons why he remained at St Mary's on a Sky Sports documentary entitled, 'Le God: The Matt Le Tissier Story'.

"People often ask me whether I enjoyed being the big fish in the small pond and I'll be honest with you: too right I did!" said Le Tissier.

"I loved being the centre of attention and the main man. I wanted to entertain people and sticking one in the top corner from 25 yards was a pretty good way of doing that.

"Winning wasn't the be-all and end-all for me."
