Rangers youngster John Fleck says he will always be indebted to departing club veteran David Weir.

The 41-year old is set to leave Ibrox this weekend to pursue playing opportunities in England and 20-year old Fleck, who this week joined Blackpool on loan, said the former Everton veteran has always been there for him with encouraging words to help his career especially prior to the move to Bloomfield Road.

"I speak to Davie all the time. He's been brilliant for me. I'll always be grateful,” Fleck told SunSport.

"Davie helps you in good times and bad. He's there for everybody. If you ever need advice he's only too happy to give it. Not just the young boys, but the senior lads too. He's one of the most respected guys I've ever met in football. He's probably got the same amount of respect as the manager.

"Davie's been great. I've not been playing much and he's pulled me through it.

"He's helped me deal with the disappointment and frustration and told me to keep my head up Davie just advised me to keep working hard, insisting my time would come. Now I hope this can be my time.

"I spoke to Davie in the last few weeks about my situation and got advice from him.

"He agreed it was probably best for me to go and get some games elsewhere.

"So, hopefully, it can work out for me at Blackpool."
