Bayern Munich chief Uli Hoeness has revealed the reasons why he did not pursue David Beckham in the winter.
The LA Galaxy star was being linked with a number of different clubs when his MLS contract expired at the end of the 2011 season with the likes of Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern showing interest.
Hoeness admits it would have been nice to bring in Beckham purely for shirts sales alone but says that the fact the wife of the English superstar, Victoria, would have to come along too dented his enthusiasm.
"But in the end, with great players, this buildup can cause problems. Their women, for example.
"I like Mr. Beckham, but I do not like his wife. And if I buy Mr. Beckham also I am buying his wife and I would never buy for Mrs. Beckham.""I thought I was not signing for being a super player, but sell the extra shirts," said Hoeness.
