I believe in miracles! says Sunderland's Poyet

Gus Poyet admits he now believes in miracles following Sunderland's great escape.

The Wearside club made it four wins in a row when beating West Bromwich Albion 2-0 at the Stadium of Light on Wednesday night which has secured their Premier League safety.

Goals from Jack Colback and Fabio Borini allowed the Black Cats to move five points clear of the relegation zone which seemed unachievable in mid-April when they had lost seven of eight matches from the start of February.

After the triumph, a buoyant Poyet spoke of miracles and how he now believes in them after being part of one in England's north east.

"I've said it a few times; we needed a miracle. No doubt about it, I believe in them now! It's probably one of the best days of my life today," he told Sky Sports.

"We finish in mid-table and I'll be celebrating big. No doubt. It's been an incredible few weeks and an incredible achievement.

"In the future, I don't know how many years, but teams will be in the same situation and people will say: 'Well, Sunderland did it."
