Former Liverpool defender Sami Hyypia has urged the club's young players to make the most of their preseason chance.

The Reds will be in the USA next month.

Hyppia told Internationalchampionscup.com: "They can be massive, not just for young players. Everyone is fighting for their positions because there is no team that has just 11 players. These summer tournaments are good places to prove yourself and for young players, if they have the privilege to come with the first team and play against Manchester United and Borussia Dortmund, it is a great experience.

"They have a great chance to show the manager they are ready. I remember when I was young and went with the first team for the first time, it was a great experience and I got to play a little bit at the end of the training camp. That gave me a big boost for the future."
