Sami Hyypia has called on Liverpool teammates to fight Manchester United until the end in their title battle.

While a four-point deficit and the fact United have a game in hand still leaves the Anfield giants as outsiders, Hyypia is bubbling at the prospect.

And the 35-year-old defender insisted that if anyone on Merseyside thought the title race was over, they may as well call it quits now.

Hyypia said: "We knew the United game was really important to win because if we'd lost it then the title would have been gone.

"It will still be really difficult for us even though we are now closer to the top. But at least we have closed the gap a little and we will see what happens from here.

"The one thing I can definitely say is we will keep fighting until the end. If we didn't believe we may as well stop the season now.

"We have to do our best and win our games and maybe United will drop points and we can take advantage.

"We want to finish really well and pick up as many points as we can to get the highest place in the league."
