Aston Villa fullback Alan Hutton is backing Barry Bannan as Premier League class.
Hutton is convinced the diminutive midfielder has all the credentials to shine in the Premier League and on the international stage despite his lack of height.
"I think he has everything to be a top player," former Tottenham defender Hutton told the Birmingham Mail.
"Some of the passes he can pick out are unbelievable. He is looking to have a real bright future.
"Look at some of the best players in the world. They are not tall. You just have to look at people like Lionel Messi. It is no different for Barry. He has great feet, great movement and is brilliant. There is no reason for him to worry about his height.
"Some of the stuff he has got, not many players have got. Like his vision. There is always room for players like that in teams. He is a character and all the boys love having him around.
"It is good to have someone like that and a friendly face round about."
