Former Sunderland star Don Hutchison admits he thought they had paid too much for Steven Fletcher.

At £12 million, the former Wolves man appeared overpriced - before he hit the goal trail this season.

He told the Sunday Sun: "I'll put my hands up now and admit that I thought they had paid too much for Steven Fletcher. I was of the opinion that he was good, but not that good.

"But he has been brilliant. The goal he scored against Swansea when he went right through on goal and produced a lovely finish with his left foot was quality."
