Hutchings denies rift with Derby boss Jewell

Chris Hutchings is ready to return to work after his dumping by Wigan Athletic.

Hutchings, who was in charge for 12 matches, turned down potential jobs immediately after his dismissal but is now set to take 'the right offer'.

He was expected to team up again with Paul Jewell at Derby before Stan Ternent was appointed as No 2 at Pride Park.

Breaking his silence after leaving Wigan, Hutchings told the Daily Mail: "We've not fallen out. I congratulated Paul on his move and wished him all the best. I know he'll do a good job at Derby.

"Some people still think I've gone to Derby. I was invited by the LMA to a one-day coaching course at Nottingham Forest and after my name on the list they'd got me down as Derby County.'

Hutchings said he did not expect to be fired by Wigan but added he was now looking to get back in the game.

"It was a shock getting the sack," he said. "But after a month of golf and watching other people's teams, I'm ready and willing and maybe a little bit wiser."
