Hunt desperate not to make it third time unlucky with Wolves

Stephen Hunt is determined to avoid suffering the embarrassment of relegation with a third Premier League club. The Republic of Ireland international finds himself in an all too familiar predicament this season as Wolves battle to preserve their top-flight status.

Having slipped out of the division with Reading and Hull City in the past, Hunt knows how difficult it can be to claw your way to safety.

"You look at Wolves' revamped squad and they should be better than where they are," Hunt said in the Daily Express.

"I've heard that before though. We strengthened the squad at Reading for a second season in the Premier League. We never thought we were bad enough to get relegated.

"The squad at Hull was strengthened after going up. There was no recovery time at Reading when we realised we were in trouble. There's recovery time here at Wolves. Hull was a dogfight.

"We are better-equipped to survive here than Hull. We have a team that's all together. You could question one or two players at Hull, but that's up to the individuals and how they want to treat themselves.

"But it's different here. There's the desire and character to get better. I've not seen anyone with a bad attitude. The manager wouldn't allow it, but on the other hand the manager can't make you train hard, that comes from yourself.

"When we were playing badly here and losing, I was hurting. But it wasn't just me, it was others in the team, you could see it in their faces.

"The team's progressing and getting better which will stand us in good stead as the season goes by.

"If you haven't got that desire to progress and be better, then it will suck you in. The desire level drops and you are struggling. You are punished."
