Hull's Mendy doesn't expect any Bolton favours

Bernard Mendy doesn't expect Hull City to receive favours from Bolton Wanderers this weekend, despite the links between the two clubs.

Mendy told the Hull Daily Mail: "I played for Bolton for one season and it was a very good experience for me.

"I like Bolton as a club but I expect no favours from them. It will be the same situation again, we can't afford to lose, we have to go out to win."

Looking back to his time with the Trotters, Mendy feels he is now much better placed to cope with the pressures of a survival battle.

Back then, he was a 21-year old defender loaned out by Paris St Germain to gain valuable experience.

And he will be putting the experience of that relegation fight to full use this weekend.

"I think I am a better player here than I was at Bolton," he said. "I am a more mature player. I was young when at Bolton, I now have more experience and maturity.

"I don't feel the pressure. I like this kind of situation. Before when I was younger I may have found this situation difficult, but not now. No one here wants to go back into the Championship, we need to be strong mentally, go forward and believe.

"We have to go for a win. We need to go forward and believe for the fans, for the city, for the manager and everybody has to believe we can stay in the Premier League."
