Hull City midfielder George Boateng says Gareth Southgate is paying for his decision to sell Middlesbrough's experienced players in the summer.

He told The Sun: "It has been a tough season for them and I do think they have missed ]the experience of players like Schwarzer, myself and Rochemback.

"You cannot buy experience in this league. I think they changed a lot of things and maybe some of it was too quickly.

"The thing is they are now struggling and they have not got the experience to get out of trouble."
