Hull City star Robbie Brady will undergo surgery to address a groin problem.
The 21-year old winger was set to link up with the Republic of Ireland team for World Cup qualifiers in just over a week but has been withdrawn so he can have an operation after undergoing a scan on Monday.
The Football Association of Ireland posted on Twitter:
