Hull City and Wigan Athletic are bracing themselves for a battle over the use of their respective stadiums.
The Daily Mail says the clubs each share their grounds with Super League rugby teams, which is seen by rival clubs as one of the main reasons why the KC Stadium and the DW Stadium now have such poor surfaces, after a hard winter coupled with the start of the rugby league season.
The Premier League, who ordered Wigan to relay their pitch last year, already have rules that say football must be the primary use of these stadiums.
A spokesman said: "The overuse of grounds has become a perennial issue and the weather over the winter has made the problem more apparent."
