Hull veteran Kilbane: Portsmouth loss like Henry hand-ball

Hull City veteran Kevin Kilbane admits Nwankwo Kanu's late winner for Portsmouth was a huge blow to their survival hopes.

Kilbane says the 3-2 loss was a "kick in the teeth".

He admitted: "It's a big blow. Once we had gone 2-1 ahead I felt there was only going to be one winner, so to lose a massive game like that is heartbreaking.

"We'd have taken a point as something to build on because we have not been scoring many goals, or picking up many points, away from home.

"But to concede twice in the last three minutes is hard to take. You can't afford to do that in the Premier League or it will come back to bite you.

"I was on the pitch when Henry knocked the Republic of Ireland out of the World Cup with his handball.

"That was a real sickener, but this runs it close.

"Any defeat under such dramatic circumstances is a kick in the teeth. But, as the manager told us afterwards, we've got a massive home game against Fulham next week. We've got to get this defeat out of our system and the sooner we start winning matches, the better."
