Nick Barmby feels he's having the last laugh on critics of his decision to sign for hometown club Hull City.

"At the time, I got slaughtered for moving down the divisions," Barmby, once of Tottenham and Liverpool, told the Observer. "People were saying that I'd lost my bottle and I wanted to be in my comfort zone, and that I didn't really want to play at the top level any more. That couldn't have been further from the truth. We had a dream. Hull is truly on the map now."
