Hull City signing Curtis Davies admits manager Steve Bruce has been trying to sign him for eight years.
Bruce tried to get him at Birmingham City before Davies' move to West Bromwich Albion in 2005.
"In a way, he's been chasing me for eight years," said Davies.
"When it looked as if it might not go through at West Brom, he was on the phone saying 'look, just hold on until January when we can get you, we haven't got the money now'.
"But it was all sorted out with Albion and it's just weird the way things work, isn't it?
"Here I am playing for Steve Bruce eventually and I am looking forward to it. He was a quality player in the same position and what people say and what I've heard about him, it's all good.
"I hope I can learn from him as well, even at the age of 28."
